?madkey? Unlocks Win in Bodog Poker?s Sunday $100k Guaranteed

Monday, May 7th, 2007

Poker - Bodog Beat

The Bodog Poker Sunday $100k Guaranteed Online Poker Tournament drew 810 entrants yesterday looking to take home a share of the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool. The $25,000 first-place prize remains one of the largest guaranteed pots in online poker. And as with so many of Bodog’s guaranteed tournaments there was another huge overlay - $19,000 in yesterday’s case.

Two Bodog regulars who have been making a name for themselves recently showed up in the top three on Sunday. Both "madkey" and "Killa_Tyven" have had deep runs in previous Sunday $100k Guaranteeds this year, both cashing and barely missing their respective final tables.  "madkey"  also made the final table in one of the $50k guaranteed tournaments, taking home $1750.

The first-place win for "madkey” is the largest prize that he has taken home to date from the Bodog online poker tables. "Killa_Tyven"’s third-place finish ($9,000) in yesterday’s tournament, along with several other tournament placings this month, have propelled him to the top of the Monthly TLB entering the second week of May.

Here are the full final table results and payouts:

1) madkey - $25,000

2) Joe 8877 - $14,000

3) Killa_Tyven - $9,000

4) Heinz57 - $6,500

5) eljay85 - $5,400

6) BlindCloud - $4,400

7) Petez - $3,400

8) teamflushdraw - $2,400

9) El Cubanito - $1,550

Will "Killa_Tyven" move far enough up the yearly TLB to be featured in UK magazine Online Poker Pro? That question will be answered on May 15 when one of the top ten online poker players on the yearly TLB will be selected by Bodog for this opportunity to be featured in the July edition of the magazine.

?Lucky You? Offers Sap, Not Poker

Lucky You - Bodog Beat

With a 28% approval rating on rottentomaotes.com, "Lucky You" has failed to impress movie-goers and poker fans. The problem with the movie is that it is trying to cater to two worlds, those who embrace the "chick-flick" genre of Drew Barrymore-esque romantic sap, and those who enjoy the high-stakes thrill of the poker room. The trouble is, the two worlds do not belong together. To make things worse, director Curtis Hanson forces in cheesy poker metaphors to try to force the worlds of sap and poker together with lines like, "You got it backwards kid. You play cards the way you should lead your life. And you lead your life the way you should play cards." Or Barrymore’s quote when she dumps her poker-playing love interest, "I’m just making a good fold." Groan.

Movie editor Josh Larsen complains, "’Lucky You’, set among professional gamblers in Las Vegas, introduces us to a fascinating world with fascinating characters - and then turns away from it all in favor of a drearily generic romance."

"Lucky You" brought in $2.5 million, a box-office bomb. However, the competition was high as the movie opened the same weekend which boasted record breaking numbers for Spider-Man 3, a boxing showdown in De la Hoya vs Mayweather, the NBA & NHL Playoffs, the Kentucky Derby and notable Nascar and golf events. Perhaps it would have had a chance if it dropped the sap and focused on the good stuff, like poker.

Play in a world without the sap. Visit Bodog’s online poker room today.
